A Jumble of Good Stuff!
Okay, is there anyone in Monson that DOESN"T know that I have a love affair with Pete Hamill?? Lori thinks I'm crazy but that just proves she has not read any of his work (and she "claims" to be well-read). Well, as luck would have it, there is an excerpt of Pete's new book in the May 26 issue of New York Magazine. I actually squealed with delight when I pulled the issue out of the mailbox! This is a work of non-fiction (Pete is very diverse!) and is titled "A Time It Was: Bobby Kennedy in the 60's". Pete is a talented journalist as well as author, (call me and I can give you his whole life story!...or better yet, read his memoir "A Drinking Life") and he covered RFK's campaign as well as established a deep friendship with him. The book is historical as well as personal. I can only tell you from the article I read, but it reads like a quintessential Pete book...awesome and eloquent!
P. S. I'll be listening to "Downtown: My Manhattan" tonight on my trip to Andover...and it's read by the author! Pete and I will have a good time on our journey tonight! (And yes, my Pete does realize he is the second Pete in my life!)
Some more good stuff as I was looking for an audio to listen to....I came across our copy of 'The Best of the Accidental Creative" (on CD). The Accidental Creative is a website and podcast dedicated to the creative process and teaching organizatons how to lead their creative teams and structure for long term effectiveness. I got hooked on the podcast...just lots of good ideas to inspire creativity and good management. Try out these audios for something a bit different! These are located in our "Business Center".
Also located in our Business Center is BusinessWest - The business journal of Western Massachusetts. This is my new favorite magazine/newspaper. I don't miss an issue. Many of our health programs stemmed from articles I read in BusinessWest. It is full of great articles highlighting interesting local businesses. I am always in awe (and a bit envious) of all the truly successful and creative people in the area! I am begging you to pick this up...I guarantee you'll be hooked.
There's so much more good stuff, but as I said, I'm on my way to Andover tonight and I haven't even packed, plus I have to walk a friend's dog! Ahhh, so much to do, so little time!
Summer Reading is starting June 16! But alas, another post for another time!
Enjoy this incredible spring weather my fellow gardeners and golfers...and everyone else in between!!!! I hope you are all out there walking!! Remember to turn in those mile!
